Divine Chocolate “On The Road” for Fairtrade Fortnight!

Fairtrade Fortnight 2015 highlights the power of YOU, encouraging all of us to “Choose Products That Change Lives”. At fairandfunky we are hosting our first fairandfunky Fairtrade Conference for Schools bringing together Primary Schools from across Kirklees to celebrate and learn about Fairtrade through creative arts and education workshops for students and teachers.

We are delighted to host guest blogs throughout Fairtrade Fortnight from our ‘Conference Champion’ Sponsors. Today’s blog is from Charlotte Borger of Divine Chocolate fame! We’re so pleased that Divine have sponsored the fairandfunky conference in CHOCOLATE!!

The Divine Van!

“I’m writing this blog post from Divine Chocolate HQ just as we are about to embark on our 16th Fairtrade Fortnight tour!  This year we’re going on the road – around London, Brighton and Bristol – and we’ve lots to celebrate.  Having had great fun and a big success with a Pop Up shop in Covent Garden last year, in 2015 we’re taking the shop to the people with our own fabulous branded Divine Van.  We’ll be highlighting our delicious new Dark Chocolate Caramel Bar (really chuffed about our palm-oil free smooth soft caramel….), sampling all our flavours, and selling bars, and Easter treats.

Kuapa Kokoo Kids - the next generation!

Kuapa Kokoo Kids – the next generation!

We’ve also created a new little film – it’s called “Cocoa – the next generation”. Divine’s job is to give cocoa farmers a voice – and this year it’s the turn of the children of Kuapa Kokoo farmers who have made a lot of this film themselves. It’s a reminder that, if we want to continue buying our favourite treat, we’re going to rely on these kids to want to take over their family farms and carry on growing cocoa.  So we’re going to have to make it worth their while!

If you’re around and about in London, Brighton or Bristol during Fairtrade Fortnight do look out for us – there are going to be some great highlights as we hook up with Fairtrade and social enterprise friends, as well as some of our lovely business partners – like Aardman Animations, and Canopy & Stars.  May I especially recommend our visit to the University of Sussex in Falmer – join us there and you’ll get the chance to throw some exclusively Ghanaian shapes with our Azonto dance trainer.  Several University dance clubs are planning a dance-off!

We look forward to seeing lots of you! We’ll be being loud and proud to be a 100% Fairtrade company, owned by cocoa farmers, and with a traceable supply chain from bean to bar.
