This blog is inspired by a game of recycling facts top trumps we played on twitter with @Nlifepaints
fairandfunky lead a number of interactive educational workshops in schools, but we also run creative drop in recycling workshops in our wider community. fairandfunky creative craft workshops use recycled materials and plenty of imagination! Everything we use (where possible) is recycled, either from the home or from local businesses. We are members of SCRAP Leeds and a lot of our materials are sourced from there: a treasure trove of scrap; full to the rafters of discarded materials, originally destined for landfill.
Our workshops are accessible to all. The crafts are intentionally simple so that anyone, whether they are 2 or 22 (or older!) can be involved. The message that you, as an individual, can take little steps to change the world, is a very important one to fairandfunky. By showing that a simple small action, like reusing and not throwing away, changes the world, we are empowering people of all ages and abilities to do just that. Encouraging participants to think about the world around them, and take positive action is what fairandfunky is all about!
