As we step into a fresh new year, many of us set resolutions that aim to make an impact—whether in our personal lives, our communities, or the world at large. Have you ever thought about how your goals could contribute to a more sustainable, connected, and positive planet in 2025?
At fairandfunky, we believe that little steps can (and do!) change the world. Tackling big issues like climate change may seem daunting, but little steps can create ripples that make a world of difference, especially if we take those steps together. Here are 10 little steps you can take to change the world, with fairandfunky as your guide:
Instead of putting your rubbish in your household waste bin, consider how they could be repurposed. Local to Holmfirth? We’re always on the lookout for craft-worthy junk for workshops that help us teach the mantra, “don’t throw it away, make something.”
Follow our social media channels to find our latest ‘Scrap Shopping List’ – if you can help (even if it’s just one item now-and-again) we would be extremely grateful.
Use pedal power to spread sustainability messages at your community events, and change the world one smoothie at a time.
Our smoothie bike is perfect for drawing in the crowds and for kickstarting conversations on energy, food provenance, waste and recycling, so if you have an event planned and want an unusual but engaging attraction for your audience, get in touch!
We have a whole calendar of events planned for 2025 from Holme Valley Green Week, to our International Women’s Day celebration ‘My Voice Matters’; from our Fairtrade Conference for schools to our SCRAPtastic craft workshops for families – there’s so much for you to get involved in!
Take a look at our community events page to see what we’ve got coming up, and do get in touch if you want to find out more and join in!
Our school workshops raise children’s aspirations so that they feel ready to make a difference and take little steps to change the world. We provide learning experiences for young people to think critically, collaborate and problem solve in meaningful activities.
We have a huge range of school workshops that spread the messages of climate action, the environment, recycling, sustainability and Fairtrade, using creative practices as a tool for learning.
If you’re a teacher or governor, all you have to do is get in touch to book a workshop for your school. But even if you’re not a teacher yourself, you can still tell your local primary school about the work that we do, so we can teach the next generation that little steps can change the world!
You might have seen that we’ve been chosen as The Co-op Local Community Cause for a second year running (if you haven’t seen, where have you been!?) and we are THRILLED!
But if you want to find out more about what that entails and what that means to a community organisation such as ours, you can read all about it via our blog here. But what’s most important is that people continue to choose us as their cause throughout 2025.
Choosing fairandfunky is free and anyone with a blue Co-op card can do it, but it makes a HUGE difference to the impact we can make with the work we do – just follow this link to choose us!
Over the last 12 years we have worked with several community organisations to run engaging projects: bringing people together to celebrate their sense of place. With us, people experience shared moments of learning through creativity, as we encourage families and communities to take positive action and contribute to society in active ways.
We would like to extend our reach and have developed ‘fairandfunky partner packages’ for workplace/businesses to give back to local communities with investment in social vision and values by supporting our work. By working with fairandfunky you are demonstrating your commitment to sustainability and taking your own little step to change the world.
We need your help to promote this new initiative. Maybe your workplace is looking for an opportunity to invest in a school project or you know a business that might be interested?
Please share our ‘Become a fairandfunky Partner’ blog far and wide with your networks, or if you want your business to become a fairandfunky partner all you have to do is get in touch!
We’re pulling together a team of volunteers for ‘My Voice Matters’ at Holmfirth Tech on Saturday 8th March who can help us in our community cafe at the event. We also need people to help us gather vital feedback and data at the event, so we can do it again bigger and better in future.
If you’re interested in giving us a bit of your time and want to get involved with an event that celebrates the voices of women and girls, do let us know.
Want to see more families coming together in a creative space to talk about climate action and recycling? Our SCRAPtastic workshops do just that! With recycling crafts for all ages on a wide variety of themes, we’re looking for more spaces and places to bring our workshops to.
From festivals to museums and galleries; from garden centres to food halls – we’d love to get crafting near you! So if that’s you, or you know the perfect spot, just drop us an email and we’ll get the ball rolling.

We love what we do, and we couldn’t do it without all of you getting involved too. But if you know of anyone who would be interested in what we do, or just want to help spread the message that little steps can change the world, follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Bluesky, and tell others we’re there too! You can also sign up to our monthly newsletter here, to get direct updates about what we’re up to.
Changing the world starts with you — and us, together. At fairandfunky, we believe in the power of collective action, and we invite you to join us in taking little steps that make a big difference this year. Happy New Year, we can’t wait to change the world with you in 2025!
