Our blog series to meet fairandfunky friends continues. We’re loving finding out a little bit more about the people we work with, and how they take little steps to change the world – we hope you are too. The words people share confirm that we choose great partnerships! This week we welcome Nemi from Stafflex to answer our questions…..
Who are you, where are you from and what do you do? My name is Nemi Alexis and I am the senior business development and marketing manager at Stafflex which is a local recruitment agency based in Huddersfield. My role is focused around developing new business and driving Stafflex forward to achieve our targets and business objectives. I am also involved in all things marketing – advertising, sponsorship, events just to name a few!
What makes you a fairandfunky friend? My involvement with fairandfunky began shortly after I started at Stafflex in 2017. The company has always had a keen interest in supporting the local community with fundraising, projects and all kinds of initiatives. This led us to have a conversation with fairandfunky and from that we developed a great relationship in which we sponsored various workshops in schools promoting health living and sustainability.
We also were involved in the smoothie bike initiative (which was a lot of fun by the way!), this was a custom built Stafflex branded stationary bicycle fitted with a special blender which spins when the bike is peddled. The bike was promoted to schools and conference in the local area as an interactive tool to physically demonstrate to children the link between healthy eating and exercise.
Stafflex and fairandfunky share many of the same values and the relationship has gone from strength to strength over the years. I am sure we will continue this partnership for many years to come!
What little steps do you take to change the world? I do my fair share of recycling at home and whenever possible I always try to buy ethical products. I am also very interested in history and how the world has come to the place we are in today, and I believe that if we can understand our history and the mistakes that have been made in the past we can learn from them and create a better future for the next generation.
Who influences or inspires you? And why? This is an interesting question! There are two people in particular – First is my mother. She is an amazing woman who brought up myself and my brother on her own. I know how difficult it must have been at times and I can take a lot from her work ethic and positive can do attitude in any situation. She has worked her socks off to give myself and my brother the best chance in life to succeed and for that I can only be grateful!
Also Brian Stahelin, Stafflex managing director. He has had a huge influence on my work life and also has given me plenty of important life lessons that have proved to be very useful.. He is a very experienced and knowledgeable person and to have someone like him to lean on for advice and support has had a very positive impact on how do things and my outlook on both work and life in general.
How do YOU inspire others to take little steps to change the world? In the past I had a presence at the workshops but as my role at Stafflex has changed this is not possible however I am a huge advocate for fairandfunky and will always promote the work they do to anyone I speak with as the more people understand the issues and challenges that they are covering – the better place the world will be!
