The fairandfunky Product of the Week this week is our Recycled Cement Cosmetic Case and Wash Bag.
This toilet bag is unique to say the least. Made using recycled cement bags, which have been collected, washed and cleverly transformed into a sturdy holder for your toiletries and cosmetics, it is strong, durable and waterproof. Every bag is unique depending on the cement bag brand used and the area of the cement bag used.
The bag is made by communities in Bangladesh, using local materials and traditional skills, helping them work their way out of poverty.
The cement bags were in demand when aid organisations purchased them to carry vital medicine and rations to those in need in outlying villages. From this, it was realised that cement bags could easily be upcycled and used as a type of fabric, to make products such as planters, laptop bags, pencil cases, laundry bags and these funky wash bags!
What a FUNKY way to reuse and recycle!
